Position Title = Product Development Engineer (PLC Software Development)

Position Description = Under the direction of the Director of Product Development, the Development Engineer’s primary task
will be to develop control system software applications from product definition through application deployment.  The
successful candidate will work with other product development team members, project engineers, and project managers to
support and lead elements of various product development tasks.  The Development Engineer must possess knowledge of
rotating machinery (i.e., gas turbines, steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, and generators) and the typical processes

Essential Functions
  • Leads and participates in the product application definition and design of software modules, used as control elements
    within control systems that supervise the operation of industrial rotating machinery.
  • Develops software applications on various Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) platforms using IEC-61131
    programming languages (i.e., structured text, function block diagrams, and ladder logic).
  • Participates in and supports all aspects of the product life cycle including, algorithm design, application deployment,
    factory automation testing (FAT) and commissioning.
  • Works individually and within project tams to develop software application solutions to meet various project
    requirements as they are identified.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • The Product Development Engineer shall have a demonstrated knowledge of:
  • Rotating machinery applications and their interaction with their surrounding industrial processes.
  • Programmable Automation/Logic Controllers (PAC/PLC) or Distributed Controls Systems (DCS) and their application
    within unit or process control systems.
  • Basic control practices for rotating machinery applications, including start / stop sequencing of gas/steam turbines,
    compressors, and generators.
  • Rotating machinery controls subsystems (i.e., fuel control, compressor surge control, compressor loadsharing etc.)
  • Instrumentation practices for rotating machinery applications.
  • Detailed understanding of the design and application of lean premix combustion (Dry Low NOx) systems as applied on
    gas turbines.
