Position Title = Human Resources Manager - Union
Status = Permanent Full Time with Benefits
Education Required = Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
Experience Required = 7-10 years of HR related experience, 3 years experience in union environment, considerable
knowledge of employee relations principles and practices, and 5 years of supervisory experience.
Position Description = Support the mill's human resource related objectives. Utilize experience to assist in and strengthen HR
functions including but not limited to: strategic management, employee and labor relations, safety, organizational
development, staffing, compensation and benefits.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the facilitation of union/management activities, including the interpretation and administration of labor contracts to
ensure accuracy, consistency and fairness.
Participate in contract negotiations.
Coordinate employment activities and manage discipline, grievance & arbitration processes for specified departments in the
mill.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and managers at all levels.
Assist in the development of policies and procedures.
Manage salary hiring and orientation process.
Manage the overall salaried training and development efforts and support the hourly training initiatives.
Supervise the hourly payroll process.
PHR or SPHR preferred.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving and decision making skills.
Ability to champion change and influence others at all levels of the organization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
